The stadium was originally built in 1975 and was knows as the Dinamo stadium.  It's maximum crowd was 110,000 in 1995 at a Dinamo v Liverpool game.  The stadium was renamed in 1995 to the Boris Paichadze National Stadium after one of Georgia's world renowned players.

At the moment the stadium is mainly wooden benches which do not qualify for UEFA games.  At the moment they have around 22,000 individual seats, so the capacity is capped at that.
